From Scars to Strength

AfroKouture was founded by Linda Aluoch, a Certified Human Rights Advocate and Anti-Trafficking Consultant, as a social enterprise extension of the mission behind HopeWorks Global. But long before the titles and credentials, Linda was a young girl growing up in Kitui, in Eastern Kenya.
Raised in a single-parent household, Linda’s childhood was shaped by poverty, domestic violence, and abuse. She bears physical scars from that season; one from a burn sustained while fighting over food, another from stepping on a nail because her shoes had no soles. Her mother, despite overwhelming challenges, worked tirelessly to secure an education for her four children often left with nothing after loan deductions to cover school fees.
Linda knows firsthand how poverty, lack of education, and broken systems create the perfect conditions for exploitation. She also knows the deep grief of losing a close relative to trafficking and HIV-related complications an experience that fuels her commitment to prevention and healing.
AfroKouture was born from that journey. It creates dignified jobs for women in underserved communities in Kenya, offering handcrafted fashion, jewelry, and home décor that reflect resilience, beauty, and cultural pride. Each purchase supports the work of HopeWorks Global delivering education, mental health support, and anti-trafficking initiatives to communities most at risk.
Through AfroKouture, Linda turns personal scars into systemic change, offering economic empowerment and a platform for survivors to rise with dignity and purpose.
